INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The goal of the International Relations Department of the Academy of the Ministry of Finance is to make the Academy a regional center of sharing financial policies, legislation and practices.

Therefore, one of the main priorities of the organization is to deepen cooperation with international organizations and experts for sharing experience, as well as modern teaching methods and implementing joint training projects.

Achieving the goals set by the Department will help strengthen international relations, which in turn will make international-level education even more accessible and increase community involvement in international training courses.

Strategic goals to strengthen international cooperation


1. The Academy ensures the development of knowledge and professional skills of the employees of the system of the Ministry of Finance, increases opportunities for sustainable career development and self-realization through cooperation with international and foreign educational institutions or partner institutions.

2. The Academy will offer training programs developed as a result of international experience to other public institutions and private sector organizations in Georgia and abroad.

3. The Academy well organize international conferences and workshops to share best financial policies, legislation and practices.

4. The Academy strengthens cooperation with highly qualified international experts and trainers in order to offer high quality, modern, practical, flexible and tailored training programs to interested individuals and organizations.

Cooperation with Major international partners


In cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Joint Vienna Institute (JVI), the Academy of the Ministry of Finance has been organizing and conducting targeted training courses in English for public servants from different countries several times a year, led by economists / experts from the International Monetary Fund and the Joint Vienna Institute.

These international trainings facilitate the country 's active involvement in the International Monetary Fund (ICD) Institute's Capacity Building International Education Programs.

It helps the country to establish itself as a Regional Education Center, which provides high-quality, professional training / qualification skill development in accordance with international standards, as well as sharing Georgian reforms.

In 2018, for the first time, a Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Within the framework of the Memorandum, cooperation was planned in terms of professional training and professional development of the staff of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, sharing of experience, consulting and organizing working visits. According to the terms of the memorandum, a bilateral cooperation plan is prepared once every two years and signed, focusing on current and priority issues at the moment.  Within the framework of the cooperation, trainings and workshops are held on various economic and financial topics. In addition, the employees of the system of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia are given the opportunity to participate in various vocational training courses in the Netherlands and Slovenia (National Academy for Finance and Economy and Centre of Excellence in Finance, CEF).

Under a grant agreement between the Academy of the Ministry of Finance and the United Nations Women (UN Women), the Academy of the Ministry of Finance provides training for women entrepreneurs on a variety of topical issues, thus promoting women and their active involvement in entrepreneurship.

In accordance with the grant agreement signed between the Academy and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 2016, under the direct organization of the Academy, various trainings and workshops were conducted for the staff of the Revenue Service of Georgia in 2016 - 2017 by a foreign expert. This was the fulfillment of one of the obligations of Georgia under the Association Agreement - to fully adjust the specific types of work processes of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service to European standards.
